What does this mean for participants?

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide safe, appropriate and personalized supports, meet our responsibilities or comply with the law.

We explain what information we collect, why we need it and how it may be used. This includes photographs, videos and audio recordings.

We only use personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a directly related purpose that the participant would reasonably expect.

We will not share identifying information with another person, provider or organization without the participant’s consent or the consent of their authorized representative, unless the disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Information may be disclosed without consent when necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety, or when appropriate action is required in relation to suspected unlawful activity or serious misconduct.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

We maintain participant records securely and ensure information is accurate, current and treated confidentially.

Participants may request access to the personal information we hold about them and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date, subject to any legal limitations.

When personal information is no longer required, we securely destroy or de-identify it, unless we are legally required to retain it.
